United Way 2025

2025 United Way Campaign

At Walker, we believe everyone deserves an Amazing Experience. And the same strategic purpose that drives our business extends to Walker’s philanthropic efforts.

That’s why this year’s campaign theme is Walkeropoly: Game Changers for Our Community. Just like in the classic board game, every move counts. When you give, volunteer, or raise awareness, you are helping others move forward—opening doors to education, financial stability, health, and basic resources. Each contribution is like landing on “Community Chest,” fueling opportunities for families and individuals to thrive. And when we work together, we’re not just playing the game—we’re rewriting the rules to build a stronger, more resilient community.

October 30th marks the launch of our 2025 United Way campaign.

In the weeks leading up to launch, we will be sharing information on this year’s campaign via Huddle updates and campaign-specific emails and Slack messages. Please also keep an eye out for a mailed letter from Steve Walker at your home address. We ask that you consider making a financial pledge to our 2025 campaign. Information on match options and incentives is included in the FAQ section below. The Walker Corporate Foundation is planning to contribute somewhere between $25-30k in match donations, so please look at ways to make your personal dollars go further.

As in previous years, we want the campaign to be fun and uplifting but always with the larger mission in sight. Walker has partnered with the United Way in some fashion since the early 1940’s, back when it was known in Indianapolis as the “Community Chest.” Walker has participated in the formal United Way corporate campaign since 1991. Over the course of those 34 years, Walker employees have donated upwards of $4M to the United Way via these annual campaigns. With 85 cents of every dollar going towards their mission, that’s major and efficient impact!

As our Walker team has grown beyond the Central Indiana community, we want you to rest assured that any undesignated dollars you donate to our 2025 United Way campaign will be automatically sent to the United Way agency in your home zip code. Bringing positive impact to your home community. That said, as with the past few years, you have the option to direct your donation more specifically should you choose to do so. You can designate your dollars in one of three ways:

1. To the United Way undesignated (i.e., you want the United Way to use the funds as they best see fit)

2. Directly to a United Way agency of your choice

3. Directly to a non-United Way agency but a charitable organization of your choice.

So long as your donation is made through the Walker pledge site (linked below starting 10/30), it will count towards our 2025 corporate campaign goals.

The United Way is committed to fighting for education, financial stability, health, and the basic needs of every person in our communities. A gift to the United Way might be the ultimate way to create an Amazing Experience!

Plan Your Giving - Frequently Asked Questions

For the 2025 campaign, the Walker Corporate Foundation (WCF) plans to fund between $25-30k in match giving. The WCF match giving makes your personal donation go way further so be sure to take advantage of this year’s opportunities. For 2025, the WCF will…

  • Community Chest Bonus: We’re excited to welcome many new employees this year! To celebrate, any first-time donor who joins the “Community Chest” will have their gift matched 2-to-1, up to $250.

  • Double Rent Bonus: Level up your giving! When you increase your donation by $75, your gift will be matched 2-to-1 on that $75 increase.

  • Pass Go, Collect $200: Keep the momentum going! When you increase your gift by $200, you’ll receive a $200 match.

  • Secret Match: Pledge on Day 1 and you might have a chance to unlock a surprise bonus match. So, get those pledges in quickly when the campaign opens on Thursday, October 30th!

In addition to individual match opportunities, we’ll also be providing some friendly team-level and business unit competitions, including:

  • Property Upgrade–Hotel: Be the first on the block! The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd teams to reach 100% participation will earn a $1,000, $750, and $250 bonus for their community impact.
  • Property Upgrade–House: Build your impact! Every team that reaches 100% participation will earn a $750 bonus.
  • Roll for Rewards: Be the first BU to reach 100% participation and you’ll get to roll the magic dice for a bonus match between $1,000–$5,000!

Plus, every employee who makes a pledge will have the opportunity to order an exclusive Walkeropoly: Game Changers for Our Community merch item as a thank-you for supporting the campaign.

At Walker, we are focused on instilling a growth mindset within our company culture. Competitiveness is a key component to being growth oriented. Why not up the ante with a little team and BU competition? In the spirit of this year’s campaign: Game on!

Team participation matches will be assessed by 12 participation groups as follows:

• Executive / Management

• Finance / HR / Admin

• Marketing / Sales Ops / Sales

• Engineering Services

• Yosemite

• Moana Loa

• Olympic

• Acadia

• Fuji

• Glacier

• Everest

• Matterhorn

The BU “Roll for Rewards” bonus match will be assessed by the following grouping:

• FSIL (Yosemite, Zion, Moana Loa, Sellers, Marketing, Admin)

• GSTMT (Olympic, Acadia, Fuji, Sellers, Sales Ops, HR)

• HPSC (Glacier, Everest, Matterhorn, Sellers, Finance)

There are two primary ways to participate in this year’s campaign. Both options will be linked above starting Thursday, October 30th.

        1. Make a pledge to the United Way, a United Way agency, or the charitable organization of your choice. You have the option to choose payroll deduction or credit/debit card. Payroll deduction will divide your total donation by pay periods and automatically deduct from your bi-monthly paycheck. Payroll deduction will begin in January 2026. If you opt to pledge via credit/debit card you have the opportunity to pledge your entire gift immediately or plan future installments.
        2. Purchase snack packs for kids in Central Indiana. Each snack pack is $2.60 and includes a Capri Sun, a Go-Go squeeze, a Goldfish pack, fruit snacks, and a note of encouragement. We invite you to help assemble the snack packs in-person downtown at the Stutz during November’s RED session! These kits will be donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana—who support youth every day by creating one-to-one mentoring relationships and empowering youth to achieve their full potential. The 700 kits will be immediately distributed.

Please note: 2025 campaign pledges and kit purchases will be reflected in paychecks starting on January 2nd, 2026

Yes! You have the opportunity to direct your pledge to either the United Way, a United Way agency, or a charitable organization of your choice. So long as your donation is made through the Walker pledge site linked above starting October 30th, it will count towards our 2025 goal.

Please note: When designating to any organization outside of United Way, regardless of whether they are a United Way accredited agency or not, there is a processing fee. The processing fee is 5% (with a minimum donation of $5) or a maximum fee per designation of $250.

The United Way is engaged in nearly 1,800 communities across more than 40 countries and territories worldwide, including every state in the USA. All undesignated dollars you donate through Walker’s engagement will automatically be sent to the United Way agency in your home zip code. You also have the opportunity to direct your pledge to a specific charitable organization in your local area.

Your donation to the United Way could qualify you to join a United Way affinity group. Affinity groups, sometimes referred to as donor networks or giving societies, are groups of philanthropists connected through a likeminded passion for improving their local communities. Affinity groups are organized by giving level and common interests (e.g., young professionals, women’s groups, diversity advocates, etc.) and afford you the opportunity to broaden your social and professional network.

Affinity group opportunities are unique to your local United Way. United Way of Central Indiana’s groups are listed here: https://www.uwci.org/donor-networks.

Visit this page on the United Way Worldwide website (https://www.unitedway.org/local/united-states) to search by zip code / state. Remember that the Walker Corporate Foundation match dollars count towards giving levels and affinity group donation requirements!

Good catch!  The United Way began as an idea to pool the broader community’s individual philanthropy together to support crises and make a bigger impact…much like when you land on the Community Chest space and get a little economic boost in the game.
